Buffer preparation skid
Veenbrink RVS designed, manufactured, validated, and installed this buffer preparation skid on-site at one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. Everything with a focus on quality. With an eye for finish, hygiene, ergonomics and ease of use, this project was brought to a successful conclusion.
The buffer preparation skid is filled with Water For Injection (WFI) and other raw materials. Powders and solids can be administered via dosing units, in which the substances are ground and mixed with the liquid. Raw materials can also be lifted manually via a freight elevator, with the materials being manually added through the manhole. The system can be cleaned completely in situ using CIP spray balls and a fixed cleaning programme with sterilisation cycle.
The buffer preparation unit is equipped with fully comprehensive instrumentation for monitoring pressure, temperature, pH and level via load cells. In addition, the buffer tanks are equipped with pneumatic valves, sampling taps, various switches and magnetically driven bottom agitators for a homogeneous product. The applicable ATEX zoning has been taken into account.
Naturally, we comply with all applicable laws and regulations. The buffer vessels are constructed in accordance with the Pressure Decree and design code EN 13445. Within this framework, all required non-destructive testing (NDT) was also completed, such as hydrostatic pressure testing, X-ray examination and penetrant testing. This was all supervised by an independent Notified Body (NoBo). Additional testing was performed at the request of the end user, including performing boroscopic weld inspections on the piping, riboflavin testing and measuring surface roughness. Veenbrink RVS is ISO 3834-2 and NEN-EN 1090-2 certified for the design and production of the platform structure.
