All pressure tanks with a maximum allowable pressure greater than 0.5 bar comply with the guidelines set out in the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
Pressure equipment is categorised in accordance with the type of pressure equipment, the medium’s physical condition and the allowable pressure. Each category specifies the requirements that must be met. These requirements are set out in the corresponding module(s) and are relevant to both the equipment builder and the Notified Body. Equipment that is subject to the PED legislation is built in accordance with the applicable design code. The design code provide guidelines for the design, production and non-destructive testing of pressure equipment. This way the requirements set out in the PED module are met.
